Chicago 2009: 2010 Toyota Tundra gets new 310-hp 4.6L V8

We first saw the 2010 Toyota Tundra during the Super Bowl XLIII. Toyota has now taken the wraps off its 2010 Tundra at the Chicago Auto Show with sales to begin in April. For 2010, Toyota added two new packages (including the Tundra Platinum and the Tundra Work Truck) along with a new 4.6L V8.

Tundra buyers looking for some luxury in their large pickup can opt for the $5,140 Platinum Package which will be available on the 2010 Tundra CrewMax Limited models equipped with a 5.7L V8 and Flex Fuel engines. Pricing for the Tundra Work Truck will be announced closer to the pickups April launch date.

The new 4.6L V8 engine will be available on all 2010 Toyota Tundra models. It is capable of producing 310-hp and a peak torque of 327 lb-ft. Fuel-economy is estimated at 15/20 mpg (city/highway). The new engine will be mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
